attached resp5.docx Comment about this post: This chapter goes inside an adolescent's mind and explains how and why it works the way it does. From cognitive changes to the physical features of the brain, we relive adolescence all over again. A few sections of this chapter stuck out to me. The first is the section about the thinking tendencies and changes from childhood into adolescence. Once adolescents form abstract thinking, they can add depth to many other aspects of their lives, such as their relationships, opinions, and identity. Another section that caught my attention was the adolescent brain and the changes it goes through during this developmental stage. The book referred to these changes to the brain as being "remodeled", it is crazy to think that such drastic measures are biologically taking place within these little humans. This starts to click personally when I am associating with people who are currently in this stage. The increased sensitivity to stress and greater emotional reactions are direct reflections of what is taking place within their bodies. This can even be associated with the risky and impulsive decisions that adolescents make. By understanding the developmental features of this stage of life we can understand society and each other a lot better too.

Within-subject designs use a single group of participants and test each individual in all different treatments being compared. The primary disadvantage of within-subjects designs is that they can result in order effects. An order effect occurs when participants' responses in the various conditions are affected by the order of conditions to which they were exposed. Some of the problems associated are fatigue, boredom, or practice effects. So to minimize it, fatigue effects can be reduced by shortening the procedures and making the task more interesting, boredom can also be reduced by providing...

Now that we've gained clinical knowledge on preparing an assessment, the next important step is the development of a Case Formulation which is critical in the planning of treatment for behavioral health patients. A Case Formulation is the primary objective of the clinical assessment. It is a model of the patient and how that patient functions in the world. It provides a hypothesis about the patient’s problems that is based on the theory of psychopathology which guides the clinician’s understanding and treatment of such problems.
