Psychology Verified Ph.D. Review

Research Method (ESP)

Research Requirement:

In everyday life, we are regularly exposed to various claims about human psychology and human behavior. While some of these claims may be scientifically valid, many of them are not. Choose a psychological claim about which you are skeptical. If you are having trouble thinking of one, think about common areas of pseudoscience that you may have heard about (e.g., astrology, ESP, hypnosis) to help you generate ideas.  develop a research question that you have about the claim. Discuss how the scientific method could be used to test your research question as compared to one of the other methods mentioned in the module (method of tenacity, method of authority, a priori method).

Reply 3-1 DF MC

I think you are off to a good start! One thing to keep in mind is that there may be other factors involved besides just ice cream and crime. The third factor is actually a thing that you mentioned, the weather. This is the third variable. Because there is a third variable involved, the idea of ice cream and crime causing each other cannot be true. This is due to correlation but not causation of the two initial variables.REPLY

attached resp4.docx Comment about this post: Adolescence is marked by significant biological transitions as children undergo puberty on the path to adulthood. Hormonal changes during puberty drive growth spurts, body hair development, and sexual maturation. These changes coincide with brain development in regions linked to reasoning, planning, and self-control. Biological factors likely contribute to teens' shifting sleep patterns, as melatonin release is delayed making it harder to fall asleep early. Many teens struggle to get enough sleep due to staying up late on devices, homework demand...

Discussion 10

Chapter 12: Good Samaritan laws in the United States and some places in Canada protect from blame those people who choose to aid others who are injured or ill. Such laws are intended to reduce bystanders’ hesitation to assist other people should they fear being prosecuted for unintentional injury or wrongful death (after all, helping others might get you hurt in some cases). Yet other countries (including the Canadian province of Quebec and countries such as Israel, Italy, Japan, France, Belgium, Andorra, Germany, and Spain) go even further, making it a legal requirement for citizens to assist...
