Research Requirement:
High crime rate and positive ice cream consumption is such an odd duel and correlation that goes together. Violence and crime rate would go well together in a correlation as they go hand and hand together, but not ice cream. Although research is done to uncover correlational relationships between variables, it is important to keep in mind that a correlational study cannot prove cause-and-effect relationships (Myers & Hansen, 2012).To continue, I must add that the heat and summer time is a third variable that is indeed a reason for the high rates of ice cream consumption. In the summer individuals crave a cold ice cream much more than in the winter when it is more chilly. Ice cream is always in high demand in the summertime compared to the winter. Although the two events may be related there is no proof of causation because one event does not cause the other event to take place (Myers & Hansen, 2012).
