Please note that minimum requirements for your final essay include four scholarly sources, with one being a peer-reviewed journal article published within the last seven years. The minimum word count is 1700 words, not including the reference page. Your paper must demonstrate mastery of applicable APA rules. Your paper must have a title page, an Abstract, appropriate headings, and a Conclusion.    The Assignment: You are to select one landmark United States Supreme Court criminal case for in-depth review and analysis.  The case you select cannot be a case discussed in the Complete assignments in units one through six. It can be one of the other cases discussed in your text.   After you have selected a landmark Supreme Court case, prepare a comprehensive analysis of the case, including:   · An identification and narrative description of the defendant, · A complete description of the crime the defendant allegedly committed, · How the defendant’s motive/intent/opportunity (if applicable) were shown in the defendant’s criminal trial (refer to unit 2: corpus delecti, elements of offense, and units 5 and 6: elements of crimes) · An explanation of the defense used during trial (alibi, excuse, justification, or procedural defense) [refer to units 3 and 4]. · If you had been the defense attorney in this case was there anything you would have done differently? · Describe the precedents established by the Court’s decision. Have these precedents been modified by lower courts since the original decision was published?  (See unit 1: stare decisis and precedent) ·  If you had been on the Supreme Court when the case was decided, how would you have ruled, and why?   Remember to include a separate Reference page. The references must be listed in correct APA 7th edition format.
